EMCS Ltd. is a private Hong Kong based company which is focused on helping Global Energy Related Companies and International Private Equity Companies find large investment opportunities in the Energy Infrastructure business (Power Generation, LNG, Natural Gas, Wind and Solar, Energy Storage, Fuel Storage and Distribution, Pipelines, Energy etc) and help them manage/improve/optimise their Energy Infrastructure Investments. Its prime geographical focus is China and the Asia Pacific region.
What We Do
Find Deals:
We help our clients find large new deals in the area of Energy Infrastructure.
- Deal size: Project investments on average between 50 Mln and 300 Mln USD.
- Equity participation: On average 25-51%.
- Geographical focus: China specifically and AP in general.
- Offering knowledge/understanding of China Energy-Petrochemical-Utility markets and its permitting processes, its regulatory systems, its key players and its working practices. This allows to understand whether potential opportunities/deals make sense/are doable/are realistic.
- Offering credible, strong energy industry expertise in the areas of LNG, gas, utilities, power generation, pipelines, gas distribution networks, city heating networks etc. This allows depth, trust, conviction and solidness when dealing with and looking for third parties/new partners.
Create-Build:
We help our clients negotiate deals/set up new ventures.
- Ability to identify, frame, structure and negotiate complex deals.
- Ability to define best possible commercial structures and translate them into Joint Venture (JV) agreements.
- Management of complex/important relationships in order to understand, manage and convince partners in difficult and challenging negotiations/environments/markets.
Run-Improve:
We help our clients manage/optimise their business ventures.
- Ability to offer Portfolio Management skills (defining and setting targets, performing regular business reviews, safeguarding agreed control applications).
- Ability to improve Senior Staff management (coaching, advising, recruitment, progression, succession planning).
- Challenging/helping Management in improving operations, controlling costs, implementing best practices, improving and safeguarding HSE track records.
Lead/Supervise:
We help our clients with their Governance of their assets.
- Ability to act/assist as a Board Member (and ability to influence JV Board members).
- Managing/improving relationships with senior management JV partners.
- Understanding, defining, driving and managing the process of ‘non Western’ Board meetings in China (pre-discussions, agenda setting, alignment beforehand etc). Acting in flexible, pragmatic, realistic but also firm way.
- Setting/driving/controlling/assisting on Board level key processes such as JV Strategy, Business Plan, Results delivery, Compliance etc.
Ad Hoc:
We help our clients with Special projects.
- Able to analyse/review/assess almost any kind of energy related project in China. This is often done when our clients wish to have an independent review of an opportunity or a problem they face. This can cover an opportunity definition, a strategic fit review, an assessment of attractiveness, a risk and opportunity review, a checking of financial implications, a review of decisions required/implementation plans.
